It's easy to push off your family photos...
I'll be the first to be honest with my parents, family photo sessions can be a lot of work. Sometimes the reasons "why not" seem too daunting and it's easy to push it off for 'maybe next year.' But I'll also be the first to tell you that there really aren't many roadblocks we can't work through together!
That's what hiring a good family photographer is all about. You need someone who can help you prepare and then roll with the punches as they come. Cause behind every beautiful photo set of families you see on Instagram, I can assure you there were some hiccups along the way!
Sometimes your normally smiley kiddo is going to be really shy and clam up, heck they probably will even cry (maybe even a lot). Sometimes your normally sweet and quite kiddo is going to turn into a little cyclone, running around maniacally the whole session. And guess what?! Both are TOTALLY normal! After years of preschool portrait photography combined with years of lifestyle family sessions, I have truly seen it ALL and learned how to help navigate these moments.
We're gonna get creative, play games, run around and blow off energy, and most importantly we're gonna let these moments happen! The tears, the crazy laughter, the misbehaving, even massive poop explosions, they're all a part of real, every day life with kids and I'm not here to pretend that's not the reality of life. We can let them feel their feels for a moment, then regroup with a new, fun idea to help get those joyful, warm shots we all love and look for!
Together, with some compassion, creativity, and humor, we will work through any bumps in the road. So even if you toddler is going through the "terrible twos" (or threes, or fours), even with the cut on their chin from the gymnastics trick they tried off of your coffee table last night, even if you have no idea in the world what you'd wear, schedule that family photo session. These moments are real and fleeting and you've got to encapsulate them in photo before they pass by, because we all know kids grow entirely too fast!
